the lucy show :: ephemeral (this is no heaven)

…it’s been a great couple of years for re-issues of albums on cd that have been out of print or never available on cd before. off the top of my head would be dfa records putting out both of the first pylon releases. also wall of voodoo’s “dark continent” ( albeit as one of those “2-on1” with “call of the west”) & screaming blue messiahs “gun shy” . now words on music have released the lucy show’s 1985 album “…undone”. having long ago sold quite a bit of my vinyl, I have been awaiting some label taking a chance on this and putting it out on cd for the first time.

now if only someone would commit modern eon’s “fiction tales” to cd.

Submitted for your approval:

Plugs seldom fall out of reach when I’m putting together a playlist, and “All Them Witches” in particular. I’ve kept waiting and waiting (and waiting) in vain all year for this song to catch on, but maybe it never will.

RIYL: TV on the Radio, Hot Chip and “songs that rhyme witches with bitches.”

Joy Division’s “Transmission” came out November 17, 1979. Here’s a phenomenal live performance from right around then.

Never gets old.
